BEST ATTRACTIONS OF WARSAW

Amateurs: route ca 5 km
Advanced: route ca 10 km

We invite both tourists who want to get to know Warsaw and residents who wish to take a fresh look at their city and to discover it anew.

You will see streets and monuments, you will run through squares and parks, you will compare historic places with the most modern ones. In order to discover the many faces of our complex city, you may have to wander off the route. Together, we will seek an answer to the question: “Which place could be referred to as the heart of Warsaw?

TO THE VISTULA RIVER!

Amateurs: route ca 5 km
Advanced: route ca 10 km

We invite you for a run in the fascinating and ever-changing district of Powiśle!

What do we have in store for you? We will search for the Warsaw marmaids. Some mermaids don’t ever change their places of residence—they stick to their location for decades on end. Others have moved across the city, and we will try to retrace their footsteps. We will look for the greenery in Powiśle—in the parks as well as on the roofs. We will talk about outstanding landscape architects: Alina Scholtz and Irena Bajerska. We will admire the work of Barbara Zbrożyna, Zofia Czarnocka-Kowalska, Barbara Brukalska, or Ludwika Kraskowska-Nitsche. Buildings which house educational institutions (State Girls’ School Complex, Interior and Industrial Design Departments of the Academy of Fine Arts, Female Students’ Dorm, University of Warsaw Library) will inspire us to talk about women’s access to education over the years. We look for spots commemorating Janina Porazińska, Eliza Orzeszkowa, Anka Kowalska, Halina Mikołajska and Beata Obertyńska. We will discover when and why the sculptures titled Fishwife and Girl with a Pidgeon came into being.

ŻOLIBORZ

Amateurs: route ca 5 km
Advanced: route ca 10 km

Do you remember a song titled ”Deszcz” [Rain] composed by Władysław Szpilman to the lyrics of Konstanty Ildefons Gałczyński?

„The streets are so pretty in Żoliborz,
The poplars, and the blowing wind”

We invite you for a run along these pretty streets! We will look for poplars, sycamore and other types of trees. Which maple tree is the most famous in the district of Żoliborz? Which books does it feature in? Which park boasts 100 old pear trees? How many monuments of nature are there in Żoliborz? You can admire trees in every season of the year.

We will also learn about architecture, detail and urban planning of Żoliborz, as well as about its history and residents. Let the district enchant us!
