Refugee Day. This is what happened at the Museum of Warsaw!

On June 22nd, at the Museum of Warsaw, we celebrated World Refugee Day. We listened to the stories of Patricia Abuya and Thelma Njoroge from Kenya, and Irshad Mohammed from India. They managed to create a wonderful atmosphere and engaged the audience in reflection and sharing their own experiences. There was also a touch of nostalgia.

Together with Irshad, we reminisced about the first letters and postcards we wrote and received. The iconic Warsaw buildings presented in the Room of Postcards served as a springboard for stories about how climate influences our customs, building traditions, and ways of life.

In Patricia’s story, the Mermaid connected the rivers of Kenya and the Vistula. Thelma built her narrative around the role of the artist in advocating for social rights.

A dolphin from the Room of Architectural Details became a starting point for a reflection on the restitution of cultural property.
Thank you for an inspiring meeting!
