Warsaw Barbican Open to Visitors!

Good news for history enthusiasts and tourists visiting the capital – the Warsaw Barbican is once again open to the public! Now you can not only admire this unique fortification from the outside, but also step inside and explore the historical exhibition.
The Barbican, a part of the former defensive walls of the Old Town, is one of the most recognizable symbols of Warsaw. In addition to walking along the walls, visitors can see the exhibition The Barbican and the Old Warsaw City Walls. A Story of a Historic Monument inside.
The exhibition tells the fascinating story of the loss and rediscovery of Warsaw’s medieval defensive walls, which were forgotten and hidden for centuries, only to be brought back into the city’s memory in the 20th century. It traces the changing fate of the fortifications – from their crucial military role, through a long period of neglect, to modern efforts at reconstruction and preservation.
If you’re planning a weekend stroll through the Old Town, be sure to include the Barbican on your route. It’s the perfect spot for a moment of reflection on the city’s history. Follow the walking trail The Secrets of the Barbican and the City Walls.
Within its thick walls, you can also find some shade and escape the summer heat.
