Artefact:<\/strong> any work created by a human being as opposed to creations of nature.<\/p>\n Collection:<\/strong> a group of artefacts collected according to specific distinctive criteria.<\/p>\n Patrimony<\/strong>: a group of artefacts left behind by a person, family or an organisation.<\/p>\n Collected items<\/strong>: individual artefacts, collections, and patrimonies owned by the Museum.<\/p>\n Selection criteria:<\/strong><\/p>\n Artefacts collected by the Museum should meet at least one of the following criteria:<\/p>\n 1. Be Warsaw-related through the thematic content of the work:<\/p>\n 2. Be Warsaw-related through its provenance (place of creation). The Museum acquires:<\/p>\n Using the above criteria, the Museum creates its collection, which encompasses:<\/p>\n 1. Warsaw Vistas Collection<\/strong> \u2013 works depicting the town and documenting its transformations in full scope (panorama) and in fragments (streets, squares, buildings);<\/p>\n 2. Historical and Genre Scene Collections<\/strong> \u2013 works depicting important events and scenes from everyday life and holidays, concerning representatives of various social classes living in Warsaw;<\/p>\n 3. Portrait Collection<\/strong> \u2013 portraits of Warsaw natives or people connected to Warsaw;<\/p>\n 4. Warsaw Mermaids Collection<\/strong> \u2013 depictions of the symbol of the town;<\/p>\n 5. Monument and Open-Air Sculpture Miniatures Collection<\/strong> \u2013 reductions, models, graphic designs realised or unrealised in urban space;<\/p>\n 6. Bronze Collection<\/strong> \u2013 decorative and everyday items made in Warsaw-based workshops and companies;<\/p>\n 7. Silverware and Plated Ware Collection<\/strong> \u2013 decorative and everyday items made in Warsaw-based workshops and companies;<\/p>\n 8. Souvenir Collection<\/strong> \u2013 items serving as tourist souvenirs, connected to Warsaw-related places and events;<\/p>\n 9. Packaging and Advertising Items of Warsaw Companies Collection<\/strong>;<\/p>\n 10. Watch Collection<\/strong> \u2013 items from Warsaw-based workshops and companies;<\/p>\n 11. Clothing and Accessories Collection<\/strong> \u2013 items from Warsaw-based companies and clothing designers, documents concerning fashion design, product range offered by Warsaw\u2019s fashion shops, and clothing worn by the inhabitants of Warsaw;<\/p>\n 12. Decorative Fabrics Collection<\/strong> \u2013 items from Warsaw-based companies, particularly from the fabrics produced by the \u201c\u0141AD\u201d Artists\u2019 Cooperative.<\/p>\n 13. Guild Heritage Collection<\/strong> \u2013 keepsakes from Warsaw\u2019s guilds;<\/p>\n 14. Historical Keepsake Collection<\/strong> \u2013 items of particular value for the history of Warsaw, connected to its inhabitants, events taking place in the town, specific places and institutions;<\/p>\n 15. Patriotic Accessories Collection<\/strong> \u2013 items connected to cultivating the memory of Polish history, shaping the national identity;<\/p>\n 16. Medal Collection<\/strong> \u2013 medals, plaquettes, medallions, and other engraved items constituting small sculptures, as well as models and forms;<\/p>\n 17. Photograph Collection<\/strong> \u2013 photographs (including negatives), photo albums;<\/p>\n 18. Deltiology Collection<\/strong> \u2013 individual postcards and complete series and collections, postcard albums, printed albums;<\/p>\n 19. Architectural Detail Collection<\/strong> \u2013 original elements of Warsaw\u2019s buildings and street furniture;<\/p>\n 20. Architectural and Urban Designs Collections<\/strong> \u2013 realised and unrealised architectural and urban concepts for Warsaw, architects\u2019 sketchbooks, theoretical treatises, inventory and study materials, photographs documenting the design and implementation process, scale models;<\/p>\n 21. Cartography Collection<\/strong> \u2013 maps, photogrammetry materials, cartographic documentation;<\/p>\n 22. Korczak Collection<\/strong> (Korczakianum) \u2013 artefacts documenting the life and writing of Janusz Korczak, history of the institutions he created, fates of people who were closest to him, Polish and foreign reception of his work and characters;<\/p>\n 23. Warsaw Documents Collection<\/strong> \u2013 manuscripts and prints, excluding archival materials included in the fonds of the Museum Archive;<\/p>\n 24. Audiovisual and Audio Collection<\/strong> \u2013 artistic, amateur, and documentary audio and audiovisual materials (including film) on analogue and digital storage devices;<\/p>\n 25. Archaeology Collection<\/strong> \u2013 medieval and modern artefacts discovered during archaeological research carried out within the administrative borders of Warsaw and the documentation of the research;<\/p>\n 26. Museum of Printing Collection<\/strong> (branch of the Museum) \u2013 artefacts connected to printing, graphic, and bookbinding techniques, artistic prints, and materials concerning companies and people operating in the generally understood book production and distribution industry (printing shops, bookshops, publishing houses, bookbinding enterprises);<\/p>\n 27. Museum of Pharmacy Collection<\/strong> (branch of the Museum) \u2013 artefacts connected to Warsaw\u2019s pharmacies, analytical laboratories, pharmaceutical industry until the end of the 20 th century, and the professional and academic activity of Warsaw\u2019s pharmacists;<\/p>\n 28. Palmiry Museum \u2013 Memorial Site Collection<\/strong> (branch of the Museum) \u2013 historical and martyrological artefacts connected to the history of the site, executions of the inhabitants of Warsaw and nearby localities during the German occupation;<\/p>\n 29.
