The ORNO Cooperative. Jewellery

Jewellery and art objects, souvenirs and photos, packaging and advertising leaflets – „The ORNO Cooperative. Jewellery” is a monographic exhibition devoted to the renowned art metalwork cooperative which operated in Warsaw in the years 1949–2003.

Accessories bearing the ORNO stamp were easily recognisable and enjoyed a deserved renown. The cooperative was the only associated in the Cepelia (Central Agency of Folk and Artistic Industry) which from the very beginning consistently promoted the idea of an artist-artisan, products’ designer and manufacturer in one.

The exhibition serves as a guide to the ORNO style and to the company’s origins. It is also a story about the spirit of community which prevailed in the cooperative. Over 1,600 displayed items make up a colourful and multi-layered tale of ORNO’s history. The exhibition is the first comprehensive presentation of the cooperative’s output, highlighting its prominence in the field of Polish applied art of the second half of the twentieth century.
