The Art of Support

The Museum of Warsaw is filled with stories and objects from the city’s distant and recent past. It is also home to works by Warsaw artists or works about Warsaw. We aim to intertwine these narratives from the past with the present. For the last three years, we have been actively enriching our collection with works by contemporary artists who, in their creations, reflect on the history or present of the capital.

Such ambitious acquisitions would not have been possible without the efforts of the Museum of Warsaw Foundation, established in 2022. Its mission is to support the Museum of Warsaw, particularly by financing the purchase of contemporary works for the collection and fostering educational initiatives. Thanks to the Foundation’s dynamic activities, we can now present an updated narrative about Warsaw that includes contemporary art works.

From December 2024 to spring 2025, visitors can explore the hidden corners of the permanent exhibition Things of Warsaw to discover the dialogues between historical objects and contemporary paintings, drawings, and photographs.

In several galleries, as part of a special Art of Support pathway, visitors can view works by: Pola Dwurnik, Wiktor Dyndo, Maja Kiesner, Zofia Kulik, Anna Libera, Olga Mokrzycka-Grospierre, Marta Nadolle, Chris Niedenthal, Witek Orski, Stefan Paruch, Dorota Podlaska, Mariola Przyjemska, Joanna Rajkowska, Mirella von Chrupek, Aleksandra Waliszewska, and Paulina Włostowska.

Each piece is accompanied by a description on a blue plaque.
