Brunon Kamiński shoes

Brunon Kamiński shoes

These women’s Mary Jane shoes come from Brunon Kamiński’s shoemaking firm.

The workshop was established in 1943 at 22 Nowy Świat Street. Its tradition was carried on by subsequent generations of the family: the founder’s son-in-law Janusz Prus, his granddaughter and shoe designer Aga Prus, and his nephew Jacek Kamiński, who runs the firm to this day. During the Communist era, the firm enjoyed great esteem. Kamiński’s shoes were worn by bestselling artists, politicians, and even Pope John Paul II. Special styles were created to complement the Moda Polska collections, as well as very lightweight jockey shoes.

These brown slippers, preserved with their original packaging, belonged to Danuta Duszniak, a renowned ceramics designer, creator of New Look vases, who was a regular customer of Kamiński’s. Her custom-made shoes were specially adapted to fit her feet, deformed after a childhood disease.
